48. Moby, In My Heart

There is no way to count how many times I’ve shown an open-stride elliptical machine who’s boss while listening to this song, lip synching as I resist the urge to pound my chest like Celine Dion and make a spectacle of myself at the gym. But—yes, in my heart, as the lyrics Moby sampled from The Shining Light Gospel Choir say, this song is a superhighway to whatever is best in me. Moby recorded this and his previous album in a glorified closet in his house, with blankets on the walls, channeling an obscure gospel recording into aural inspiration.

“In My Heart,” written and produced by Moby, 2002.
