It’s mysterious how sometimes you only find a thing when you stop searching for it. That name you can't recall that pops into your head later. The missing object—maybe you say the prayer to Saint Anthony—which appears after you've turned the place upside down. And love, the biggest one of all, there’s a paradoxical disconnect between the searching and the finding. Yes, you need to make some effort to be found, must get comfortable in your skin, best foot forward and all that. But the thing you want doesn't come through force of will, but patience and readiness.
The Supremes, “You Can't Hurry Love,” written by Brian Holland, Lamont Dozier & Eddie Holland, 1966.
